10 Pregnancy Must-Haves.

The products I used, loved and got me through all my trimesters.

When I first became pregnant, I had no idea what to expect, I mean who does as a first time mommy? I would always wonder how I would feel, would I get morning sickness, am I going to get stretch marks? The list was never ending. And until you are actually in it and going through the motions, you won’t know! I definitely had to learn the hard way of what worked for me and what didn’t, but I now will be well prepared for my next pregnancy.

It was fun to research and learn about all of the unique, practical and crazy products out there. I am so excited to share with you my favorite ten that I couldn’t live without! This is just what worked for me, I am not a doctor and every pregnancy is different!

1. Prenatal Vitamins.

I love these little (big) pills and I am still taking them while I breastfeed too. Heck, I was taking them before I even got pregnant for my hair, skin and nails. These are a must for any pregnant or nursing mother. Vitamins and minerals are essential to not only to your health, but also that growing baby’s too! Taking the vitamins will help cover any nutritional gap that you may be missing. Make sure you use ones that have DHA, they full of omega-3 fatty acids which are great for eye, brain and cardiovascular health!

2. What I like to call: The Morning Sickness Package.

Oh. My. Gosh. Those of you who are really close to me know that suffered with terrible morning/all day sickness/nausea and vomiting. So much so that I had to have weekly IV’s and be hospitalized. I searched high and low for anything to make me feel better, and a few things truly did! Up first, ginger, ginger and more ginger. Ginger tea, ginger ale, ginger candies, you name it! This totally helped with my nausea. I also didn’t feel up to eating anything, but when I did peppermints, mint gum, jolly ranchers, peanut butter, toast and the good ol’ saltine crackers helped as well. I also bought Sea Bands, which are pressure point bracelets that I wore a lot and let’s not forget the most important, fluids. Sipping on anything from Gatorade to lemon water to hot tea. Keep yourself hydrated as best you can!

Side Note: Don’t be afraid to ask your doctor to be put on something. I am not one who likes to take medications, but I finally got put on Diclegis. Although it didn’t help with my nausea that much, it did help stop my vomiting.

3. The Body Pillow.

Because when you are uncomfortable as heck, and trying to support your growing bump is just too much…you need the body pillow. This bad boy is comfy, soft and forms perfectly around you and that belly. It also doubles as a great divider between you and your husband when you don’t want to be touched 😉 haha! JK, but really, who has time for that when you are nauseous, huge, hot and just want some sleep? Seriously, get you one pregnant or not!

3. Maternity Leggings.

When you are pregnant, it is all about comfort. And as someone who refused to buy maternity clothes, I caved and bought one thing, maternity leggings. These were my saving grace. Who has time to wear actual pants with a belly? No one. I tried a ton of different ones and these were by far my favorite! Great support, perfect stretch and light weight!

4. Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter.

I did NOT want to get stretch marks! Who does!? I was really hoping I would have my mothers good genes as she popped out four of us and didn’t have one stretch mark, and thank goodness I think I did because I don’t have one! Now, was it her genes OR the fact that I slathered my body head to toe twice a day in coconut oil and cocoa shea butter? Who knows! And although I am sure I was a huge grease ball, but I would take that over gaining a tiger stripe any day!

5. Belli Anti-Blemish Facial Wash and Acne Control Spot Treatment.

The worst thing ever. Acne. Not only do I have acne on the reg, getting pregnant and having a girl (which I didn’t know at the time) threw my face in the hell of all acne. Thank you hormones. And as a former dermatology nurse, I couldn’t use or take any of the products I was! Double suck. My face seriously looked like pepperoni pizza. Thankfully I found this safe and effective face wash and acne treatment. Definitely helped tone down my redness and acne and keep it at bay.

6. Sports Bras.

It doesn’t matter what kind, just find yourself a comfortable one. Your body and breasts go through a ton of changes when you become pregnant, and you’ll want a good bra that is without restriction, wires and that helps support your growing girls. That will, wait for it. . . . . only. get. BIGGER! That’s right! And then find yourself a good nursing bra or in my case, just really stretchy sports bras!

7. Belly Band.

This band is a staple piece for any pregnant mama. I did not want to spend a whole bunch of money on maternity clothes only to wear them for a couple of months and then them take up room in my already jam packed closet. So when I couldn’t button my jeans anymore, I turned to this. This band is stretchy, comfortable and actually holds everything in quite nicely! It hid perfectly underneath my shirts and you were never able to tell my pants were unbuttoned 24-7!

8. Dry Shampoo.

I mean hello. . .your puking, sleeping, nauseous, exhausted and repeat. Who has the time to wash their hair and then blow dry and style it!? Not me. I rarely even put on make-up because I was so tired and holding my arms up even made me nauseous. So dry shampoo became my best friend, which we have been for years, but I am talking best friends on a whole new level. Now I love me some dry shampoo, but the smell of some of them were getting to me. So I found ones that didn’t smell and seriously allowed me to not wash my hair for up to 6 days. Yes, you read that right. These one’s are the holy grail of dry shampoo! Get. Get. Get.

9. The Water Bottle.

I cannot stress enough on how important it is to drink water. This is something that I struggle with hard, so when I was told I needed to double my intake, I knew i had to get a good water bottle. And I didn’t just get one, I got multiple. One for work, one for my car, one for downstairs and one for my nightstand. Having so many I was always able to grab and gulp! It was such a good reminder for me to drink and drink some more.

10. The Apps.

When I became pregnant, I of course had to download allll of the apps that pertained to pregnancy and more! I mean who doesn’t want to track their babies growth and know that they are the size of an avocado? I also relied on these apps for information, tips and advice and they helped me out so incredibly much. Each one had their own unique features that I loved. I still use the majority of them even now that my baby girl is here. The Bump. Sprout Pregnancy. Sprout Baby. The Baby Center. Baby Bump Pregnancy Pro. Mommy Meds.
