A New Year.

How in the world is it 2018?

I mean seriously, I don’t know about you, but I cannot believe that 2018 is here. So many wonderful things happened for us in the year 2017, I don’t know if I am quite ready for it to be over. BUT, I know that 2018 is already going to be great year as we have so many exciting things to look forward to and of course to watch our little lady continue to grow into this extraordinary person she has already become!

Like most people, I to have made a list of some New Years resolutions. Today I am sharing with you my top five! So start 2018 with a clean slate and a positive outlook on everything. Remember to soak in all of the beautiful moments that you want to look back on in the years to come. I am SO excited to see what 2018 holds, what memories will be made and really lending an ear to HEAR what the Lord is trying to teach me/us. Cheers to 2018.

:: Resolutions ::

1. Let Go & Let God.

Trusting in God is a lifelong process. Like many aspects of the Christian faith, it’s a choice that we make every day. We have to learn to let go of trying to figure out the “whys” of life and trust that God understands more than we ever could. Sometimes I find myself controlling situations more than I would like to and probably more than my husband and family would like as well. So I am surrendering myself, my control and I am going to wait and trust in God’s plan and know that he will be faithful to lead me where He wants me to go. And I am going to learn to accept this change with grace.

Jeremiah 29:11 : For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

2. Being Mindful & Present.

Living in a world full of technology, social media, and just plain chaotic-ness, I am constantly finding myself disconnected from my family, friends and the special moments. The moments that I am supposed to be capturing and embedding in my mind and heart. The moments that are supposed to be the memories I will share with my children when I am older. Our society unfortunately lives in a world full of distractions that pull our minds and attention 100 different ways. So this year I am changing that. I am going to drink in all of moments and live life in the here and now. I am making the change to be present and aware to myself, my family and my friendships.

3. Health & Wellness.

The obvious…I think this resolution is at the top of everyones list. This year I am wanting to adjust my diet and lifestyle to make a healthier ME. I am vowing to myself to cut back on the sweets, (terrible addiction), drink WAY more water, back off on the processed foods, get more rest, tone the jiggle and clear and relax my mind! It is so important to take care of our bodies now, so that we can have a healthier future as well.

4. Become a Minialmist.

Uggghh. This is something I recently decided I want to strive to be. Sorry to call out my mother, but I totally inherited her love to buy unnecessary things and hoard haha (love you mom!) I love to buy stuff, and that’s what it is, simply. just. stuff. Most of it has no purpose or meaning to me or in my life, yet I am constantly filling my house with materialistic items. So this year I am going to live simpler and have less, but gain more in doing so. Because when you declutter your life of frivolous possessions and keep the significant ones, you are allowing yourself freedom and giving value to life. So slow down, consume less and enjoy more.

“Simplicity, clarity, singleness: These are the attributes that give our lives power and vividness and joy as they are also the marks of great art.” —Richard Holloway

5. Be A Better Wife and Mother.

When Dakota and I did our marriage counseling, we did a section on the directives that God gave husbands and wives. As a wife we are given eight tasks to fulfill towards our husbands. To love her husband. To submit to her husband. To respect her husband. To be self disciplined and self controlled. To be pure in heart. To be a worker in the home. And lastly to be kindhearted. I have had this list on my bathroom mirror since my husband and I did our counseling as a constant reminder of the Godly woman I am striving to be. Not only as a wife, but also now as a mother. I am adding to the list to be constant, to be patient and to be the best mother that I can for our sweet baby girl. Every day I look at the list and think am I this, am I being enough? This year, I am going to try and go above and beyond to be the very best for the two loves in my life.

Thank you all for your support, encouraging words and for following me on this new journey! I am so excited to see what 2018 has in store for this blogging mama. Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! May God bless you beyond measure!
