BBQ Meatballs

Mama Mia, that’s a spicy meatball!

Hahaha, but not really!! Am I funny or what?! As I was writing this post and I said the phase above in my Italian accent outloud, my husband looked over at me with a confused look and said, “what is wrong with you?!” He does NOT think that I am very funny, or at least he can act like I am not! ANYWAYS. . . onto the meatballs!

Today I wanted to share with y’all my FAVORITE meatball recipe! You know, the one where the old ladies make them for potlucks and whatnot and you eat like hundred of them? Ya, those meatballs. These meatballs are dripping with a sticky sweet and savory sauce. The inside is moist, flavorful and fabulous. Make ’em and love ’em guys, because you will! They really are such a great comfort food. You can serve them with mashed potatoes, rice or just as a simple dinner for your family or others. They also would make a great appetizer or would be perfect for Football Sunday or the Super Bowl as mini sliders or subs! Give them a try and let me know how you like them! ENJOY!!

Ingredients for Meatballs:

 3 lbs. hamburger
2 cups oatmeal
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
2 eggs
1 can evaporated milk (6 oz.)
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp pepper
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp salt
Ingredients for Homemade Sauce:
2 cups ketchup
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 cup water
2 tsp liquid smoke
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 cup chopped onion
What to do:
Preheat oven to 350°.  Mix above ingredients together.  Shape into meatballs and lay flat in large, greased baking pan (I use 13 x 9’s).  Next, mix and warm the sauce ingredients on the stove. Pour over meatballs and then cover with foil. Bake for 1 hour and 15 mins or until meatballs are thoroughly cooked through. Serve with your favorite sides and gobble down!
Hope you and your family loves them as much as we do! Feel free to share with me your favorite meatballs recipes!
